Greeting Screamin’ Eagle People,
April fools day. The March
winds blew themselves out the last 2 days of the month. April started
here with showers by 8 o’clock in the morning. Still a lot of up and
down weather this late winter and early spring. One day you are
wearing all the winter duds you can put on to keep yourself warm and
the next day you will be looking for shade and air conditioning.
Probably more early planting of corn and soybeans in this area this
spring that I have ever seen.
March 15th we had our banquet meeting at Centralia. We managed to
get finished in time to drive home in some snow showers. Good meeting
and a very fine meal. Thanks to all who attended. The raffle prizes
were drawn for and the pedal tractor was won by member Jim Voyles,
second prize a toy tractor was won by a person from Linn, MO. The
third prize, a Case sign, was won by member John Arter of Raymond IL.
During the meeting we also presented Jim and Mary Peeper with a sign
honoring them as founders of Missouri Screamin’ Eagles.
Well lets have a tractor of the month. Fourth month should be a
400, no it’s going to be a 430. Remember the 30th anniversary so 30
series tractors. Built from 1960 to 1969 in row crop, industrial,
orchid, and various utility styles. Started as an eagle hitch model
and was upgraded to a draft-o-matic tractor in 1963. Available with
Case built 4 cylinder engines of 148 cubic inch spark ignition or 188
cubic inch diesel engines at 34.8 and 33.1 pto horsepower.
Transmission options were 4 forward 1 reverse, 8 forward 2 reverse
dual range, 12 forward 3 reverse triple range, or 4 forward and reverse
shuttle transmissions.
Thank you Alois Hoffmann
